Dr. Yue Xu "Robert" is a partner at U.S. Fairsky LLP. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent attorney, is a member of the California State Bar, and is admitted in the United States Federal District Courts in Northern California and Central California.
Dr. Xu's practice focuses on intellectual property law including patent prosecution, reexamination, and patent portfolio strategy. He has many years of experience in preparing patent applications, response to office actions, patentability search, freedom to operate analysis, due diligence, licensing and assignment. He has helped both U.S. and international clients to secure their IP rights in the United States and abroad, and he has prosecuted patents in a broad spectrum of technical fields such as software, internet, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, energy, and materials science.
Dr. Xu has also represented clients in trademark and copyright registration, licensing, infringement analysis, and litigation. He has litigated in both federal and state courts and won favorable results for his clients, and therefore is able to consult and advise clients from a litigation prospective. Because of his broad based experience in intellectual property law, he has been retained as long-term general counsel by several technology companies to provide strategic and daily legal advice and services.
Prior to joining Fairsky, Dr. Xu was a partner at an international general practice firm in San Francisco. Before that, he was an accomplished scientist and entrepreneur, having authored several scientific publications and patents, and he was a co-founder of a successful biotechnology company. Because of his scientific and entrepreneurial background, Dr. Xu is particularly enthusiastic in advising startup technology companies. He attended Beijing University and Texas A&M University for his undergraduate education. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from UCLA, and he received his J.D. with an IP Certificate from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
